Quarantillo vs. Zalal
Billy Quarantillo, DEC
Zalal was a prime decision merchant in the UFC - obviously his losses to guys like Topuria + Woodson have aged well but his style was low-output and mostly defensive. I think Billy Q will have the volume and aggression in the striking to overwhelm Zalal like in his previous losses. On top of that, I definitely give the grappling edge to Billy Q. Although William's been caught and KO'd in the past, I don't think Zalal's recent regional scene dominance is going to translate back to the UFC. I can see Zalal being too technical/defensive to be finished but losing a dec.

Ribas vs. Namajunas
Amanda Ribas, DEC
Really good fight, I'm looking forward to this. Namajunas is selectively good at this level. She's a monster at setting traps and capitalizing on opponents walking blindly into them, but she wanes really quickly on the defensive foot. This fight really just comes down to the mental side of things, because Ribas is going to push a pace and bring ferocity to Rose, and she freezes up quickly in doing that. This could either be an early submission win or a stretched out decision. Ribas via 49-46.

Williams vs. Tafa
Justin Tafa, TKO, R1
Williams is going to tag Tafa, windmill his way in and get lamped in the process. Only makes sense.

Shahbazyan vs. Dobson
Edmen Shahbazyan, DEC
If Shahbazyan doesn't win this, it's simply tragic. I'm still in the camp of thought that he's got potential to be a ranked beast at the very least. Dobson is decent all around but he doesn't quite stand out anywhere and he doesn't display the aggression I'd like to dub necessary in order to stifle Shahbazyan. I think Edmen's jab will prevail, enabling him to surgically dissect Dobson and set him up for a highlight stoppage or a dominant decision.

Talbott vs. Saaiman
Cameron Saaiman, DEC
Saimaan is a future champ. I said it about DDP when he made his debut, and I'm calling my shot now here with his teammate.

Youssef belong in the ufc for sure, but I favor Billy in this one. Close fight.

Billy Q for the dub.

Johns vs. Gibson
Miles Johns, DEC
Scrappy competitive fight.

Talbot and Saimon will go to decision.

So what we need to figure out not who wins the fight, but who the judges want to give it to.

Are they going to be anti DDP and give it to Talbot? Do they want to grease the local hot prospect? Or will they give it to Saimon because everyone is betting on Talbot?

That's the question

Take your time UFC, there's several days left until this event is due and after all only one of these fighters have already fought for your organization. Overall 4/5, excellent work.

I was as impressed by Usman's last fight as I was disappointed in Parkin's last fight. Talk about flipping expectations from both parties. Parkin has some good technique but he is a point fighter at HW and he has this weird habit of only hand fighting with his lead hand to look for his back hand to land, rather than use the lead to jab. He's also quite stationary, I'm not as impressed by his footwork. His gas tank was also really poor in that last fight.

Usman on the other hand looked far more calm and composed in his last than his first couple of wild fights and leveraged that to beat a fighter that is definitely a step above the bottom tier level at HW in Jake Collier.
Despite his ludicrous physique it didn't seem to tax him that badly either though he did get a long break from a foul at one point in the fight. But even in the post fight interview he was not much out of breath at all and had a calm chat about his performance.
I can only assume with USADA gone the already legendary cardio of the Usman family despite them all being built like brick **** houses will only improve, their chemist father will give them all the assistance they need in that department.

I went in expecting to maybe bet Parkin here but ended up going with Usman instead. He actually has a really good jab just like his brother, when he decides to use it. He also has power to end a fight which Parkin has yet to display, and his cardio is way better than anyone with his physique ought to have.
I think either fighter will be in trouble if they end up on bottom and both of them have shown they can take it to the ground so that could throw a curveball either way.

Yeah Parkin not having power is going to be big here because Usman can just bully him

@siryeetsalot glad I’m not the only one who’s not crazy impressed with severino. He has a lot of potential but he has the same issue a lot of chute boxe guys have of being too wild and taking risks. It’s hard to say right now but Lima looks like the goods to me, he showed a lot of improvements from lfa to dwcs and he hasn’t been training mma all that long either so he is picking up the sport quickly. Defintely more power on the severino side but the difference in technical skill is evident
